Details of 2023 International Under 18 Mountain Running Cup

The event will take place in Annecy, France on 25th-27th of May.

SML52176349923 b96f515ac8 kA month earlier than the event's usual slot in late June, these dates coincide with the Maxi-Race, a huge weekend of mountain and ultra-trail racing in Annecy which has hosted both the Mountain Running World Cup in 2019 and the Trail World Championships in 2015; an incredible atmosphere is guaranteed.

The LOC also organised the recent European Masters Off Road Championships and will host the European Off-Road Championships in 2023. Annecy is less than 1 hour by bus from the international airport in Geneva.

The timetable for the IU18MRC is as follows:

  • Thursday 25th
    • Teams arrive
  • Friday 26th
    • AM: Course visit
    • PM: Technical meeting, opening ceremony
  • Saturday 27th
    • AM: Race
    • PM: Closing ceremony
  • Sunday 28th
    • Teams depart

The opening and closing ceremonies will take place by the lake in Annecy, as part of the Maxi-Race program, while the race itself will be held at the Semnoz mountain resort, 20km to the south. A single 4.6km loop, climbing and descending 230m+ through forests and meadows, the course reaches a maximum elevation of 1,650m.a.s.l. at the top of the resort. A recently constructed gondola links the start/finish area with the high point of the race, making it easier than ever to follow the race.

Athlete accomodation will be within walking distance of the opening and closing ceremonies, and transport will be provided for both the Friday course visit and the race on Saturday.

A web page with further details of the event will be launched later in the year and invitations to member federations, including the Team Manual and entry forms, will be sent out in January.
