THE WMRA FIGHT AGAINST DOPING

1. WMRA Anti-Doping Programme

The athletic discipline of Mountain Running comes under the umbrella of IAAF (IAAF Constitution Rule 1)
The World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) is recognised by IAAF as the organisation responsible for administration of this discipline at international level and as such identifies itself completely with IAAF’s fight against doping in our sport.

This means that, in all aspects of the WMRA life (and especially during the WMRA events), all IAAF and WADA Rules and Regulations must be respected.

The WMRA Council appoints a WMRA Anti-doping Commission, responsible for the administration of this programme; this Commission reports to WMRA Council.

WMRA policy is to test for doping abuse in WMRA Competitions and ‘Out of Competition’.

2. Management of the WMRA Anti Doping Programme

The WMRA Constitution stipulates that the WMRA Council is entrusted to handle the doping related matters.

The WMRA Council appoints an Anti-Doping Commission who will follow this matter, prepare recommendations to the Council to whom he reports on its activities.

The Commission shall consist of 5 members and will include a member of the IAAF Anti-Doping administration; it will meet as often as needed but at least once a year.

3. WMRA Anti-Doping In Competition Programme

The anti-doping ‘in competition’ programme includes the following competitions:

1. WMRA World Mountain Running Championships.

2. WMRA World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge.

3. WMRA World Cup (IAAF permit) races.

4. WMRA/WMA Masters World Mountain Running Championships (the WMA anti-doping regulations will apply to this competition).

4. Out of Competition Anti-Dope testing.

The WMRA Anti-Doping Programme is managed by the IAAF.

The list of leading mountain runners to be part of this programme is established every year by the WMRA Anti-Doping Commission.

5. Rules and Regulations

As mentioned earlier, the IAAF Rules will apply to the WMRA Anti-Doping Programme.

They can be found on the IAAF website: IAAF - Medical/Anti-Doping

6. Situation of the Runners who are not members of an IAAF Federation.

In accordance to circumstances defined in the WMRA Constitution, it can happen that a mountain running national governing body is not an IAAF Member.

For World Cup races, runners can even not member of a Federation at all.

These runners will be required to agree to anti-doping control procedures, by signing on the entry form, the text of the declaration set in para 7.

>Failure or refusal to do this will result in them being denied entry to the race.
